And then we went lockdown

I have not posted in a long time, summer was so busy and then I hurt my back and couldn’t even sit. It turns out I have a prolapsed disc and it is taking so long to heal. I felt a little like I was social isolating due to my back and now I am still social isolating because of well the virus…

Last week on Wednesday the entire country went on lockdown, for many this has caused major disruptions to daily life. I am no longer able to go to physiotherapy for my back. My husband is home everyday and we are not able to go anywhere as a family (aside from a walk). We will be hit financially like so many others. That said, we are lucky to have a farm and live in the country. Our routines have not been completely disrupted, our work continues. I am so fortunate to be able to have my husband home to help with all the work around the farm, it will allow my back more time to heal.

Currently, our lockdown is set for four weeks but that may be extended. Our borders are closed and they may remain so for a very long time. This is hard as we had been expecting a visit from family this winter and that is not likely to happen now. There is so much to say about how hard it is and how the whole world is being hit by this. There is also so much goodness that is happening. I feel this is like the good and bad of life the two seem to travel together and depend on each other. I hope to be more active on here now that I am able to sit and things are starting to slow down. I hope to be able to share what we are doing here as that is what I have to offer. My experiences on this farm.

On the farm we grow animals, a garden, orchards, a forest, and experience. Follow along while I learn all the things required to care for and grow food. Lessons are learned mistakes are made but at the end of the day I wouldn't have it any other way
